Hong Kong police have arrested a 54-year-old man who allegedly punched a taxi driver, forcing the latter to stop his vehicle midway through the ride.
The force said it received a call for help at 11.47pm on Thursday from a 64-year-old taxi driver to report that he had been punched by a passenger during a ride from North Point to Tseung Kwan O.
The driver was forced to stop his taxi, but the alleged assault continued. The passenger also allegedly damaged the vehicle.
Officers arrived at the scene and arrested the 54-year-old suspect for assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage.
Police said the suspect appeared to be drunk.
The driver, who suffered injuries to his forehead and had his glasses damaged, was sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for treatment, together with the suspect.
