Hong Kong International Airport has lost its crown as the world’s best for immigration service to Singapore Changi this year as part of the World Airport Awards, according to London-based aviation consultancy Skytrax.
Hong Kong Airport ranked third, with Bahrain Airport coming in second, based on a survey that assessed passengers’ experiences across multiple factors regarding the arrivals, transfer and departures immigration/border control services including waiting times, queuing systems, priority lanes, e-gate systems & efficiency, efficiency and courtesy of immigration staff.
Seoul’s Incheon Airport ranked fourth, followed by China’s Shanghai Hongqiao.
The sole international airport in Hong Kong spans 1,900 hectares and has been operational since 1998. The airport currently connects to 220 destinations through 120 airlines.
It handled 61 million passengers in 2025, a 15% year-on-year increase, after having recently upgraded its services and infrastructure.
Last year Singaporean authorities strengthened border control to better identify higher-risk travelers, vehicles and cargo for enhanced checks at checkpoints.
From Jan. 30 Singapore started implementing stricter measures to prevent travelers deemed undesirable or who do not meet entry requirements from boarding flights to the city-state.
