The Hang Seng Index fell 102 points, or 0.5 percent, to close at 20,311, with a main board turnover of HK$247.54 billion.
Mainland passenger car sales rose 16 percent year-on-year last month, but auto stocks mostly fell. BYD (1211) slipped 0.51 percent, Geely Automobile (0175) gained 1.69 percent, while XPeng (9868) dropped 1.81 percent, NIO (9866) declined 0.52 percent, and Li Auto (2015) lost 2.01 percent.
The China Enterprises Index lost 54 points, or 0.74 percent, to 7,306, while the Hang Seng Tech Index declined 64 points, or 1.39 percent, to 4,591.
Property stocks reversed early gains to close lower, with Longfor (0960) falling 4.19 percent, China Resources Land (1109) down 2.23 percent, and China Overseas Land & Investment (0688) retreating 2.68 percent.
Tech stocks saw mixed performances. Tencent (0700), which faced a stake reduction by its major shareholder, fell 1.81 percent. Alibaba (9988) slipped 0.35 percent, while Meituan (3690) edged up 0.06 percent. Xiaomi (1810), conducting large-scale road tests for its YU7 SUV, closed flat. JD.com (9618) gained 0.72 percent, Kuaishou Technology (1024) dropped 2.68 percent, and Bilibili (9626) climbed 3.41 percent.
SenseTime (0020) plunged 13.51 percent by the close.
