Highlander reboot set photos show Henry Cavill and more
Production is underway on Chad Stahelski’s Highlander reboot, and newly surfaced set photos from London are offering the first detailed look at Henry Cavill in action. Cameras have been rolling at the Tower of London, where large-scale action scenes were staged. Jeremy Irons was also photographed on location, joining Cavill during what appeared to be a major shoot day.
Cavill, who previously teased the project with an official first look, was seen wearing a leather costume similar to the outfit worn by Christopher Lambert in the 1986 original. Meanwhile, Irons appeared in a dark trench coat with a neatly styled beard.
The photographs and video also capture a demanding action scene. A performer, believed to be Cavill or his stunt double, was filmed falling from a motorcycle while attached to safety cables beneath a vehicle.
The reboot is being directed by Stahelski and features an ensemble that includes Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, and Dave Bautista. Cavill will portray Connor MacLeod, while Bautista is set to appear as the antagonist Kurgan.
Story details have not been officially confirmed, but industry scooper Daniel Richtman previously shared a rumored synopsis. According to him, “Centuries after his first death on a Scottish battlefield, immortal warrior Connor MacLeod lives quietly in the modern world, haunted by loss and the endless cycle of violence among his kind. When the ruthless immortal Kurgan resurfaces, backed by a secret organization bent on unlocking the secret of eternal life, Connor is forced back into the Game — an ancient battle where ‘there can be only one’ (via SF Gazette).”
Additional updates on the film’s schedule and release are expected at a later date.
