Key Facts
The First Lady and a Rabbi will join Biden at the White House’s Blue Room, where he will light a Yahrzeit memorial candle—in an event that will only be covered by the White House press pool.
Harris will commemorate the victims of the October 7 attack at the Naval Observatory, the official vice presidential residence, by planting a tree along with her husband Doug Emhoff, CNN reported.
Harris is expected to deliver remarks during the ceremony and reaffirm her commitment to Israel’s security and preventing another incident like last year’s attacks.
Emhoff, who is Jewish, is also set to attend an event organized by the American Jewish Committee where he will recite a prayer, the CNN report added.
Former President Trump will attend an October 7 remembrance event at his golf resort in Miami, which his campaign said will “also remember the victims of antisemitic violence that has continued to afflict communities worldwide since that tragic day.”
The campaign statement indicates Trump will attack both Biden and Harris for their handling of the situation, and blame their policies for enabling “Iranian-backed proxies” and compromising the “security of our country.”

Crucial Quote
In an excerpt of Harris’ interview with CBS’ 60 Minutes released on Sunday, the vice president addressed U.S. military aid to Israel, saying: “The aid that we have given Israel allowed Israel to defend itself against 200 ballistic missiles that were just meant to attack the Israelis and the people of Israel. And when we think about the threat that Hamas, Hezbollah presents Iran, I think that it is without any question, our imperative to do what we can to allow Israel to defend itself against those kinds of attacks.”
