- Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport is building a new $97-million parking garage to enhance customer experience.
- The new garage will add 750 public parking spaces and 750 rental car spaces.
- Recent airport improvements also include a redesigned terminal roadway and new boarding bridges.
Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport is known for customer service and convenience ― the basis of its recent inclusion on a Washington Post list of the nation’s top 50 airports.
The opening of a new parking garage, currently in the final stages of construction, is aimed at maintaining GSP’s standard for customer experience.
The $97-million project has been under construction since 2024 and was scheduled to open in early 2026.
At one point, work was ahead of schedule and airport officials expected the garage to be available before Thanksgiving. Now it appears that the original timeline is on target, though airport communications manager Tiffany Cherry said an opening date hasn’t be set.
“The best answer I can give you is opening soon,” Cherry said in an email.
Once completed, the new parking deck ― Parking Garage C ― will significantly increase short-term parking capacity.
The facility will offer 750 new spaces with park assist technology that helps drivers find open places to park. It will also feature 750 ready-return rental spaces. Rental car offices will be moved from Garage A to Garage C, Cherry said.
The new garage is the latest in a series of improvements aimed at easing congestion and making it easier to get in and out of the airport.
A major redesign of the terminal roadway was completed in 2023. The airport broke ground on Garage C in 2024.
While these improvements address the needs of visitors approaching by car, GSP has added capacity on the runway side of the airport, too.
The boarding bridges ― one apiece for Concourse A and Concourse B ― were completed earlier this year and have been in operation since September. Construction costs were around $6.8 million, according to a staff report to the airport commission in March.
GSP officials expect to surpass 3 million visitors in 2025 ― the airport’s busiest year to date.
