Germany Watch: Kai Havertz nearing Arsenal return

Former Bayern Munich transfer target and current Arsenal FC attacker Kai Havertz could be inching closer to a return.

Suffering through a knee injury since mid-August, Havertz has been unable to play for club or country. Now, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta indicated that Havertz has been making progress.

“Kai Havertz is progressing really well and quite fast in the last few weeks,” Arteta said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “We are really positive, if everything continues like that, that he is going to be with us soon.”

Havertz will undoubtedly be welcome back to Arsenal’s lineup when ready, but it remains to be seen how he will fit in with the German national team. A favorite of head coach Julian Nagelsmann, Havertz was manning the striker position, but Nick Woltemade seems to be working toward winning that job. Havertz’s ability to play as an attacking midfielder or a wing could help his cause to get on the field, but he will face competition to get in the lineup from Woltemade, Jamal Musiala, Florian Wirtz, Serge Gnabry, Karim Adeyemi, and Leroy Sané among others.

Havertz will have to make up for lost time.
