Full House star Dave Coulier has disclosed that he has been diagnosed with early-stage tongue cancer. This comes only months after the actor-comedian announced that he was in remission from non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Speaking in a recent interview, Coulier said the condition was detected during a routine follow-up scan. He also emphasized that the new diagnosis is separate from his previous cancer.

Dave Coulier has revealed that he is facing a new cancer diagnosis, only months after sharing that he had entered remission from non-Hodgkin lymphoma. In a recent appearance on NBC’s Today show, he explained that doctors have now identified early-stage tongue cancer.
According to the 66-year-old, “I went in for a PET scan, just a routine check-up, and something flared on the PET scan. It turned out that I have P16 squamous carcinoma at the base of my tongue.”
Coulier underscored that it is not connected to the lymphoma he battled last year. He added, “They said it could stem from having an HPV virus up to 30 years ago. A lot of people carry the HPV virus, but they said mine activated and turned into a carcinoma.”
Dave Coulier emphasized that his prognosis remains strong, citing a curability rate of more than 90 percent. He is currently undergoing a treatment plan that includes 35 radiation sessions scheduled to conclude on December 31. Talking about the treatment, Coulier shared, “It’s a whole different animal than chemo. It doesn’t feel as aggressive, but there are still side effects.”
The actor also reflected on the emotional toll that two cancer diagnoses in such a short period have had on his family, particularly on his wife, Melissa. Despite the setback, he maintains a positive outlook, saying, “I’m going to get on the other side of this.”
Coulier also stated, “But the thing that has really saved my life, Craig, is that early detection saved my life, not just the first time but the second time as well.” He urged others to be diligent about screenings such as colonoscopies, prostate exams, and breast exams.
