Life is weird.
When Ramy Ashour called me months ago, inviting me to his wedding, I didn’t know I was going to meet a lovely young lady who has so much to bring to Squashsite in particular, and to Squash in general.
I noticed her immediately as she was the spitting image of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. And when I mentioned it to her – as she was very, very young, I didn’t assume she knew the reference – she smiled and went “it was my inspiration”.
The more I got to chat with Farida, the more I loved listening to her life, her dreams, her aspirations. And then it just occurred to me, I just found a new writer for SquashSite, on a subject that I was always interested in: FASHION FOR SQUASH LADIES!
Who is Farida
She started holding a racket at the early age of 4, following in the footsteps of her older brother, following in the footsteps of their father and aunt, following in the footsteps of both their grandparents.

Despite her interest in other sports, she always believed that squash was part of her DNA and not long afterwards, she secured her place in the top 4 GU11 in Egypt and later top 8, before she spiraled through her downfall and started to lose grip as much as lose faith gradually—and it has been her biggest heartbreak since.
Although she never loved anything as much as she loved the sport, fashion was the one thing that started to creep in very early on. If she wasn’t on court or at school.
FashionTV would be on for hours on end at home, perfectly resonating with her mother’s love for classic style and her grandmother’s vintage fashion magazines she passed down to her, as well as the dresses she would make for her as a little girl.
