Jesse Lingard has been a free agent since leaving FC Seoul in December and the former England star now looks unlikely to return to the Premier League despite claims he could do so
Jesse Lingard is said to be in the process of negotiating a move to Brazil minnows Remo after calling time on his spell in South Korea with FC Seoul last year.
The former Manchester United attacker, 33, has spent the last two years in South Korea after deciding to leave Europe and is available off the back of a stellar year in the K League, where he scored 10 goals in 34 games for his old club.
Talk of a return to the Premier League has been rife in recent weeks with Lingard free to join another club outside the transfer window. But rather than returning to Europe, Lingard appears to be closing in on a move to South America.
Globo claim Lingard has been offered a deal by Remo, a club who were promoted to Brazil’s top division last year.

And the report adds that it is likely Lingard will accept the proposal, saying there is a ‘good chance’ the winger will sign a deal until the end of the Brazilian season.
Remo, who were in the third-tier two years ago, are yet to win this season and sit 16th in the table after three games, losing one and drawing two.
Lingard’s talks with Remo come just weeks after it emerged a return to England could be on the cards, with the player holding talks with suitors from both England and Italy over a potential transfer.
Lingard last played in the Premier League back in 2023 with Nottingham Forest, who signed him on a one-year deal after the attacker ended his long association with Manchester United. He made 385 appearances for the Red Devils after progressing through the academy, scoring 77 goals in total.
After enjoying a renaissance in South Korea, Lingard explained previously that he decided to move outside of his comfort zone in an effort to go ‘somewhere where he was loved’.
“When looking for my next club it felt important to go somewhere I was loved and appreciated and, after I returned to Manchester, FC Seoul sent two of their main people all the way there just to watch me train and play in a five-a-side game,” he said.
“The idea of Korea grabbed me. Not just a different challenge, but a new environment and culture. FC Seoul is one of the biggest clubs in the K League, with a fantastic stadium, so I said yes.”
