NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The richest person in the world has made a donation to support Tennesseans without power.
Gov. Bill Lee reported Monday morning that billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk has donated hundreds of generators in the wake of the deadly winter storm.
The historic snow and ice storm knocked out power for hundreds of thousands of Tennessee residents at the end of last month. Musk’s donation comes as thousands have been living without light or heat in freezing temperatures for up to 9 days.
“I’m deeply grateful to Elon Musk & xAI for going above & beyond to support Tennesseans by donating hundreds of generators to fill the gap, and I value their continued partnership to solve problems and support communities across our state,” Lee said on social media.
As of Monday morning, the governor has yet to release details on how the generators will be distributed.
