Jacob Duffy’s memorable 2025 has just got even better with an early Indian Premier League Christmas present, of sorts.
The 2025 Southland Sportsperson of the Year was picked up by the Royal Challengers Bangaluru in the Indian Premier League auction held in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday night.
Duffy set a minimum base price of $380,000 and the Andy Flower-coached Royal Challengers snapped him up.
The 31-year-old Southlander will join some rock stars of world cricket in the Royal Challengers team, including Indian superstar Virat Kohli.
The 2026 Indian Premier League will run from March 26 to May 21.
It is the first time Duffy – who is ranked No 2 T20 bowler in the world by the ICC – has been contracted to an Indian Premier League team.
