Funds have been identified and will be used to pay military members on October 15 despite the government shutdown, President Donald Trump said in a post on Truth Social Saturday.
“I am using my authority, as Commander in Chief, to direct our Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to use all available funds to get our Troops PAID on October 15th,” Trump said in the post.
“We have identified funds to do this, and Secretary Hegseth will use them to PAY OUR TROOPS,” the President said as the shutdown entered its eleventh day.
Trump continued his post by urging the left to open the government, saying, “I will not allow the Democrats to hold our Military, and the entire Security of our Nation, HOSTAGE, with their dangerous Government Shutdown.”
The statement came just a day after the White House budget office announced that mass firings of federal workers had begun.
