China Spring, Texas (KWTX) – Central Texas schools are celebrating Career and Technology Education Month by showcasing programs that teach students real-world skills preparing them for tomorrow’s workforce.
While traditional classroom subjects like math and science build academic foundations, career and technology education programs offer something different: practical training that bridges the gap between theory and industry demands.
Our first stop is at China Spring High School, where students dive into manufacturing technology — learning precision, problem-solving and technical skills that employers actively seek.
Throughout February, more Central Texas schools will open their doors to showcase similar programs, from welding to culinary arts, offering a closer look at education beyond traditional subjects.
For students seeking careers in skilled trades and technical fields, these classes provide a head start, blending classroom instruction with hands-on experience that many say is missing from conventional education.
These programs prepare students not just for a job, but for a career.
