Kai Tak marks one of the most significant moments ever in Hong Kong’s sporting development. As such, it is fitting that the first international event held in Stadium will be the city’s flagship sports spectacle, the Hong Kong Sevens.
With changing rooms for up to 20 teams and a seating area modelled on the Hong Kong Sevens’ raucous South Stand, Kai Tak is the house that sevens built, and likely the world’s only stadium developed with a sevens tournament in mind – reconfirming Hong Kong’s role as the spiritual home of sevens.
Such growth will be easier to realise as the enhancements of Kai Tak will amplify the Sevens’ fan experience like never before. Spectators are set to enjoy a literal once-in-a-lifetime experience this March attending the first ever Hong Kong Sevens at the new Kai Tak Stadium.

Hong Kong China men’s and women’s 7s teams are also again in the thick of the action as they take on China and Japan and Kazakhstan and Thailand respectively, as the weekend once again showcases the best of Asian sevens in the Melrose Claymores competition.
As if over 70 world-class rugby sevens matches weren’t enough, the weekend promises cultural performances and live music in-stadium from UK rockers Kaiser Chiefs, DJ Pete Tong, GALA and more. Fifteen local bands and six different DJ acts will entertain the crowds in the event’s new Fan Village over Hong Kong’s biggest party weekend.
