Brazil Defender Receives Unjust Booking In Inter Milan Victory Away At Udinese

Italian media criticised the yellow card shown to Carlos Augusto during Inter Milan’s 1-0 win away to Udinese, calling the decision incorrect.

In its post-match moviola, via L’Interista, Tuttosport judged referee Marco Di Bello largely convincing overall.

The newspaper praised his control in the first half, where he whistled just nine fouls and never lost authority.

Problems arrived after the break.

The first error came from a handball call against Kabasele. After a deflection from Zanoli, the ball struck the defender’s arm from close range.

The contact was accidental, yet Di Bello still awarded Inter a free kick.

Moments later came the key incident. Carlos Augusto stopped Davis during a Udinese counter-attack with a clean tackle. Di Bello saw a foul and booked the Brazilian.

Udinese demanded a red card for denial of a clear chance, while Inter protested the yellow.

Tuttosport sided with Inter.

The paper also noted the discipline of both teams. Without that mistake, the match would have ended without a single caution.
