BJ Penn has been arrested again after the former UFC welterweight and lightweight champion allegedly beat up a man in Hilo, Hawaii on Tuesday night.
According to Island News, police were called to a home on Kanoa Street at 1am where a 45 year old man said Penn punched and kicked him multiple times. Penn was picked up by police the next morning where he was arrested without incident. The retired UFC legend was charged with third degree assault and released on $1000 bail. He’ll go in front of a judge on December 2nd regarding the case.
2025 has been an extremely bad year for B.J., who has been arrested multiple times for assaulting his mother and violating restraining orders against her. Penn has made disturbing comments about his family being replaced by ‘identity thieves’ who are attempting to steal his home and fortune.
“I believe my son is suffering from Capgras delusional syndrome,” Penn’s mother Lorraine Shin wrote in her restraining order. “A psychiatric disorder in which a person holds a delusion that a friend, spouse, parent, other close family member has been replaced by an identical imposter. He believes I’m an imposter who has killed his family to gain control of the family assets.”
Over the past two years, Penn has posted numerous social media videos and messages suggesting various family members, politicians, and even Brendan Schaub are evil entities wearing masks. He even suggested at one point that he too was wearing a mask. In October a judge ordered that Penn undergo a mental health evaluation, but it’s unclear whether that has happened yet.
This is B.J. Penn’s sixth arrest in six months. At this point we’re hoping B.J. gets the help he clearly needs before he seriously hurts someone, or himself.
