Alvaro Arbeloa losing the trust of the Real Madrid locker room – report

Real Madrid may have fewer internal tensions with Alvaro Arbeloa at the helm, but the fact remains that they are struggling on the pitch with him as their manager.

After all, Los Blancos have lost four of twelve games played under his tutelage, losing 33% of their games.

Further, they have crashed out of the Copa del Rey, were forced to play the playoff round in the UEFA Champions League and recently dropped six points in two La Liga games to hand Barcelona a sizeable advantage.

Losing trust

Now, as reported by The Athletic in a recent update, Arbeloa is slowly losing the trust of a part of Real Madrid’s dressing room and his situation could quickly turn south if there is no immediate turnaround.

Several sources reported in recent months that Real Madrid’s dressing room tensions had improved after his appointment, and Vinicius Jr. has been one of the most improved players under his command.

Beyond that, however, the mood among several other players has deteriorated over the past month and sources indicate that Arbeloa is losing the confidence of the players.

Given Real Madrid’s tendency to ruthlessly sack managers based on performance, it is very likely that his future is placed under danger if the negative results continue. After all, even Xabi Alonso had a far better record than him and was sacked regardless.

Los Blancos have not officially announced the duration of Arbeloa’s contract as the manager, but sources close to him confirm that his deal runs until 2027.

Given that detail, a sacking is not ruled out during or at the end of the ongoing season and the manager must look for an immediate response if he is to keep his job safe.
