Adam Sandler continues to be in awe of being married to his wife, actress and model Jackie Sandler. He believes that he would’ve still met and married Jackie even if he were not an actor. He described his marriage as “destiny,” adding that “nothing” would’ve stopped that.
Adam Sandler reflects on marriage to wife Jackie
On Saturday, January 3, the Palm Springs International Film Festival awarded Adam Sandler its prestigious Chairman’s Award. During his acceptance speech, the Uncut Gems actor took a moment to reflect on his long-standing marriage to Jackie Sandler.
“I sometimes think about it, [if] I didn’t click that year and I did go work for my dad, what my life would be right now,” he said (via PEOPLE). “First off, I’m thinking I’d probably still be married to my wife, Jackie. That’s destiny. Nothing stops that. But we definitely [would] have a different house. Probably, like, 10 less bathrooms and [fewer] statues of me,” the Grown Ups actor added.
Adam and Jackie have been married since 2003, and currently share two daughters, Sunny and Sadie.
Before the actual event, Nachhattar Singh Chandi, the festival’s Chairman, described Sandler’s performance in Jay Kelly during a press release. “Adam Sandler delivers a deeply moving and career-best performance in Jay Kelly,” he praised.
Chandi added, “It is a performance which underscores his standing as one of the most versatile and respected actors of his generation. We are proud to honor Adam—a singular talent whose work continues to surprise and inspire—with this year’s Chairman’s Award.
The Happy Gilmore star received for his portrayal of Ron Sukenick in Jay Kelly. He starred alongside George Clooney, who played the titular character. Noah Baumbach served as the director with a script he co-wrote with Emily Mortimer.
The story follows Jay Kelly (Clooney), who, after his mentor’s death, ditches a film he’s working on to pursue his estranged daughter across Europe. He is accompanied by his manager, Ron (Sandler), and publicist, Liz (Laura Dern).
