Arsenal vs Coventry: How to watch, TV channel, live stream, NOW TV, team news and score prediction | Football News

The new Premier League season begins with Arsenal hosting Coventry on Friday August 21, live on Sky Sports.

Arsenal are the reigning champions after Mikel Arteta led the Gunners to their first title since 2004.

And they open the season against Frank Lampard’s promoted Coventry City, who won the Championship title last season.

Coventry are playing in the top flight for the first time since the 2000-01 season, when they were relegated in 19th place.

Arsenal enter the new season on the back of a convincing 3-0 win over Manchester City in the Community Shield.

Arsenal vs Coventry odds and score prediction

Sky Sports’ Lewis Jones:

Arsenal look ready to go again. They are the team to beat.

And this is a lovely pipe opener for the season, where they are 1/6 with Sky Bet to get off to a winning start against the new boys. It should be relatively straightforward.

For a betting angle, Myles Lewis-Skelly is being seen as a genuine central midfielder now and, in the seven games he has started in that position, he has averaged 4.3 foul involvements (fouls won + fouls committed) per 90.

The four-or-more line has landed in six of those seven matches and it’s a great bet to land again at 10/11 with Sky Bet.

Coventry have deliberately added power and athleticism to their midfield ahead of their return to the Premier League which bodes well for fouls in central areas. Frank Onyeka, on loan last season, is the obvious example. He averaged 2.5 fouls drawn per 90 last season, while club-record signing Caleb Yirenkyi brings another energetic, aggressive presence into the middle of the pitch.

SCORE PREDICTION: 3-0

Arsenal vs Coventry team news

William Saliba is a long-term absentee for Arsenal due to a back injury while Jurrien Timber is still recovering from a groin problem.

Bruno Guimaraes is being assessed but the Brazilian and Christos Tzolis could be in line to make their Premier League debuts for the club.

Coventry will be without forward Hadji Wright, who scored 17 goals in the Championship last season, as a quad injury could keep him sidelined for 12 weeks.

Wright’s absence could mean Taiwo Awoniyi or Sidiki Cherif make their Coventry debuts after signing from Nottingham Forest and Fenerbahce respectively.

Ephron Mason-Clark and Jack Rudoni are in contention to face the Gunners.
