Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra Set for First Battery Upgrade in Seven Years – Tech Advisor

According to the website, the Galaxy S27 Pro model will carry a 5200mAh battery, while the range-topping Galaxy S27 Ultra will come equipped with a 5700mAh or even 5800mAh cell.

The former will be a brand new model, so there isn’t too much to say about these claims. However, the latter follows directly on from the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra with its 5000mAh battery, which was the sixth consecutive year of the same figure.

That would represent a 14 to 16% increase, which could prove to be a meaningful upgrade.

Samsung’s battery history

We’ve been waiting for Samsung to increase the capacities of its batteries in the Galaxy S series for some years now, as rivals such as Xiaomi, Oppo and Honor have moved well beyond it.

The company has been understandably cautious about pushing the envelope with battery technology given its complicated history with exploding handsets – an issue that popped back up quite recently.

This rumour would appear to confirm that Samsung is finally adopting Silicon Carbon (Si-C) technology, which enables the use of far denser batteries, producing bigger batteries without increasing phone thickness.
