LANSING — Readers who participated in this week’s coffee-themed poll favored one cafe located on Lansing’s east side: Brewitt Cafe & Bakery.
Readers were asked to vote for their favorite coffeehouse cafe in Greater Lansing among 10 popular options — including Brewitt Cafe & Bakery; Foxtail Coffee Co.; The 517 Coffee Co.; Strange Matter Co.; Chateau Coffee Co.; Blue Owl Coffee Co.; The Brew Cafe; The Hob Nob; Moka & Co. and Haraz Coffee House.
Among the 427 readers who voted, Brewitt Cafe & Bakery received 79 votes to top the poll.
The cafe and bakery is located on the east side of Lansing, 1615 E. Kalamazoo St., in the Allen Neighborhood Center. The coffee menu includes cold brews served with sweet foam, or as a frozen brew or with ice cream for those who with a sweet tooth, and there is a rotating breakfast menu featuring various waffle sandwiches.

Foxtail Coffee Co. received 64 votes. The cafe opened in the spring 2026 in downtown East Lansing, 431 E. Grand Rapids Ave., and has gained popularity among Michigan State University students and East Lansing residents.
Several LSJ readers highlighted other locations through the poll, including The Coffee Barrel in Holt, Tin Cup in DeWitt, The Flakey Croissant in Okemos, Hooked in Lansing, Mitten Raised Bakery in East Lansing, The Willow Where Our Roots Began in Lansing, and Foster Coffee Co., among other spots.

What is Brewitt Cafe & Bakery? What’s on the menu?
Brewitt Cafe & Bakery, 1615 E. Kalamazoo St. in Lansing’s Allen Neighborhood Center, is a woman-owned and family-owned business that has been and ever-evolving breakfast spot. Now a brick-and-mortar location, the cafe began as a food truck in Okemos, parked next to Tom’s Party Store, 2778 E. Grand River Ave.
The menu hits everything sweet and savory, with rotating “waffle sammies” or “loaded waffles” which may come with a side of hash browns, chips or homemade cookies. The coffee menu features cold brews with with sweet foam, frozen or with a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream.
Customers are encouraged to ask questions about the menu because items rotate monthly, and to stay updated online via Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
Brewitt is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
