The two Glasgow food spots named among the UK’s best local restaurants for 2026

Gloriosa was named among the top 100 'Best Local Restaurants' from around the UK.

The influential guide has published its list of Britain’s 100 Best Local Restaurants as nominated by the public and assessed by inspectors – Glasgow has just two entries.

The UK’s 100 Best Local Restaurants have been named by an influential food guide and two of Glasgow’s best have made the list.

Announced by the Good Food Guide, the list saw the best spots from across the UK named, with just two restaurants in Glasgow selected, down from 7 just three years ago.

The list was nominated by the public and was confirmed by the Guide’s inspectors, who visited each of those picked out to see which were deserving of being added to the final shortlist.

Two of Glasgow’s best, Eusebi Deli and Gloriosa, both in the west end, made the list, with tiny 16-cover Ar Bòrd on the Isle of Mull taking overall winner for Scotland, with 13 eateries representing our country in the UK-wide list.

The duo regularly feature and have been lauded for the quality and affordability of their dishes.

Gloriosa, considered to be one of the city’s very best food spots, and the equally loved Eusebi Deli, which just made the move across the M8 to Edinburgh, were both praised.

Now in their 16th year, the Best Local Restaurant awards celebrate the community driven restaurants that offer brilliant value for money and top-quality cooking in a relaxed, convivial setting. In recent years it has propelled independent stars such as Bavette in Horsforth and Lucky Lychee in Winchester into the national spotlight.

Organisers say Britain’s 100 Best Local Restaurants will provide a huge boost to the hospitality industry across the country, highlighting those who often miss the spotlight whilst providing an excellent and vital service to their community.

Head of reviews and listings at the Good Food Guide Chloë Hamilton said of this year’s list: “In the face of adversity, creativity has flourished in unusual and unlikely places. It has been hugely rewarding to see how these tiny operations are offering outstanding quality in a way that so clearly strikes a chord with the local crowd. Arrive with an open mind and a good appetite and you’ll be brilliantly rewarded.”

Good Food Guide, the authority on eating out around Britain since 1951, has announced the list in partnership with Square, at an awards ceremony at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London on Monday, July 13.
