One of the stars of Evil Dead Burn has revealed the movie’s most brutal scene. The upcoming installment in the iconic horror franchise is helmed by Sébastien Vaniček.
Hunter Doohan says one Evil Dead Burn sequence was ‘really crazy to shoot’
Hunter Doohan, who plays Joseph in Evil Dead Burn, recently spoke with People and discussed one particularly brutal sequence that took several days to film.
Recalling a car sequence filmed during production, he said it was one of the film’s most intense scenes to shoot. “I read that on the page and I was like, ‘How the f**k are we going to do this?’” he said.
“It was four or five days just filming it in the car, not even including rehearsals,” Doohan added. “We’d have to jump into these moments that are so intense, and then we’d rearrange and do it all over again. We pretty much shot that sequence in order because there are so many injuries being added along the way. It was really crazy to shoot, but fun.”

Doohan said the sequence plays a crucial role in the film’s story. That’s because his character Joseph “makes a pretty horrible decision, but it’s so human. It’s out of fear and such a fight-or-flight response.” To prepare for the role, Doohan revisited the previous Evil Dead films. He said it helped him better understand the franchise’s lore.
Speaking more of Evil Dead Burn, it has already generated positive early buzz ahead of its theatrical debut this Friday. Early reviews for the movie have been encouraging, suggesting a good reception upon release at the box office.
The upcoming installment is expected to earn between $30 million and $40 million domestically in its opening weekend. Interestingly, the update paints a brighter picture, considering that earlier projections were lower for Evil Dead Burn.
Evil Dead Burn hits theaters on July 10, 2026. The main cast also features Souheila Yacoub, Tandi Wright, Luciane Buchanan, and Erroll Shand.
