City drop out of Enzo race, Real Madrid close in

Enzo Fernández’s future continues to spark debate, especially in England. The Argentine midfielder is looking to leave Chelsea and, according to Daily Mail, Manchester City have pulled out of the race—leaving Real Madrid as his most likely destination. PSG had also been mentioned, though they are not seen as needing him as urgently as Madrid, who are in the middle of a major rebuild.

Daily Mail Sport understands that Real Madrid have shown genuine interest in Enzo Fernández, who is also willing to leave Chelsea in search of a new challenge in the upcoming transfer window,” the report states.

The Argentine could become the marquee signing to cap off José Mourinho’s new project in his return to Real Madrid. The club is ready to back the Portuguese manager with a squad capable of competing for every title, and Enzo Fernández is viewed as a key piece.

The reported asking price is around £120 million (€140 million). Real Madrid have set aside €150 million for a major signing, and in Enzo’s case, the conditions favor a deal: the player wants the move, and Chelsea are open to selling—unlike situations involving Olise (Bayern) or Vitinha (PSG).

Chelsea won’t let him go cheaply after paying over £100 million for him, but missing out on Champions League football has made retaining him more difficult. He is under contract until 2032, so the club is under no immediate pressure to sell. Ultimately, everything will depend on how far Real Madrid are willing to go to finalize the deal despite the high price tag.
