Premier League confirm departing Arsenal player rejected new contract offer

The Premier League have now published the full list of retained and released players from across all 20 clubs including Arsenal

The Premier League have confirmed that Arsenal offered young departing goalkeeper Alexei Rojas a new contract.

The 20-year-old shot-stopper will, however, leave the Gunners as he has decided to reject fresh terms.

Rojas was listed by Arsenal as among 15 players, from the youth-team, first team or women’s team that will be moving onto pastures new beyond June 30.

But the Premier League have now released a full list of retained players from across the 20 clubs that competed in the top-flight last season.

In that article, there is a note that Rojas was offered a new deal, which was reported in his homeland of Colombia about a week ago.

Given he has only made a handful of appearances for Arsenal’s U21 side – he’s made just one competitive appearance for the U21s in the EFL Trophy – it’s not a huge surprise that he’s eager to pursue a new challenge.

Rojas was actually part of the Arsenal first-team squad back in November when they beat Slavia Prague 3-0 away from home in the Champions League group stage.

Also departing Arsenal is 19-year-old defender Josh Nichols, who was once rated incredibly highly within the club.

He was part of last summer’s pre-season tour of the United States but is now headed for Croatia where he is poised to sign with NK Kustosija Zagreb.

Nichols signed his first pro-deal in the summer of 2024 and later made his professional debut, starting the 5-1 Carabao Cup demolition of Bolton that September.

Midfielder Harrison Dudziak is also heading for the exit door. He was named on the bench for the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Sporting and has been a regular in first-team training sessions.

He also made a number of appearances in the UEFA Youth League this season and started all three of Arsenal’s EFL Trophy games before heading out on loan to Braintree Town.

Meanwhile, it has also been confirmed that Mikel Arteta’s eldest son, Gabriel, has also signed scholarship terms with Arsenal.

The youngster made four appearances for the Gunners U18s last season and has been tipped for a bright future in N5.

He has just turned 17, so he will be able to represent the U18s again next season as he looks to continue his development at London Colney.
