Since the end of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, some fans hoped to see more of Kylo Ren in future projects. Disney has now confirmed that the villain is returning; However, it is in a form that may disappoint those hoping for a solo film.
Following the 2019 release of The Rise of Skywalker, there were proposals for several new Star Wars movies focused on specific characters. One such movie was The Hunt for Ben Solo, which both director Steven Soderbergh and actor Adam Driver worked on for two years. The movie was ultimately rejected by Disney bosses. However, a new story will add further development to the character of Kylo Ren.
Kylo Ren to return in new Star Wars comic
The adventures of Ben Solo will continue in a new Marvel Comics series, Star Wars: The Fall of Kylo Ren. Tying directly into the events of The Rise of Skywalker, the series will find Ben Solo contending with the twin treachery of Generals Hux and Pryde. The former Jedi will assert his power to reunite the First Order against all who oppose it, within and without.
Two covers for Star Wars: The Fall of Kylo Ren may be viewed below.
The Fall of Kylo Ren will be written by writer Charles Soule, with art by Will Sliney. Both creators have extensive experience with the Star Wars setting and Kylo Ren in particular. They previously partnered on the 2019 Rise of Kylo Ren comic. This miniseries is notable for establishing the history of the Knights of Ren.
“The story of Kylo Ren (and Ben Solo, of course) always felt huge to me,” Soule shared. “It was clear that a great deal was out there to explore beyond the moments provided by the films. It’s been such a pleasure — and a challenge — to deliver new tales for one of the most prominent villains in Star Wars. I’m thrilled I get to do it one more time, and even more so that I get to reunite with the incredible Will Sliney, who kicked things off with me on The Rise of Kylo Ren all those years ago. First the Rise, then the Reign, and now the Fall… it just feels right.”
Star Wars: The Fall of Kylo Ren #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on August 12, 2026.
