Tasting Australia’s final weekend serves up latte art battles, wine walks and one massive closing party

After ten days of long lunches, top-tier chefs and packed-out foodie events, the festival is wrapping things up with one last burst of flavour across Adelaide and regional South Australia. From latte art battles and wine walks to seafood feasts and a closing night party with one of the world’s wildest chef collectives, the final three days are looking to be huge.

At the centre of the action is Town Square in Victoria Square, which once again transforms into Adelaide’s ultimate open-air food and wine hub. One of the standout additions this weekend is the brand new Latte Art Smackdown on Saturday, May 16th, where some of Adelaide’s best baristas will go head-to-head in a fast-paced knockout competition that comes down to a single pour.

Also returning this weekend is the much-loved Waiters’ Race on Sunday, where hospitality workers swap trays for speed in one of the festival’s most chaotic and entertaining traditions.

Throughout the weekend, visitors can also catch free cooking demonstrations in the Homemade Kitchen featuring some seriously impressive local talent. Think pickling and fermenting sessions with Jessie Spiby, My Grandma Ben and It’s Olio, claypot cooking with Jason Roberts and sausage-making demonstrations with Rosa Matto, Nonna’s Cucina and Gumshire Pork.

Wine lovers are also well catered for, with the Drinks Academy presented by Adelaide University hosting the Aroma Bar, complete with eight tasting stations and a wine party dubbed BIG GRAPE ENERGY.

The festival’s highly anticipated Closing Night Party will bring everything to a dramatic finish, with international chef collective Punk Royale taking over Good Neighbour in Town Square for what promises to be one final unforgettable feast.

Regional South Australia is also turning it on for the final weekend. Highlights include A Taste of Time with Seppeltsfield and FINO Restaurant in the Barossa, Kingsford The Barossa teaming up with Vintners Bar & Grill and Kaesler Wines, plus Tasting Australia by Road heading down to the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Other events happening across the weekend include Urban Wine Walk Adelaide, Seafood 101: From Ocean to Plate hosted by Jamie Steele, Weird & Wonderful: The Ocean’s Best Kept Secrets and Spitz and Spritz at Lot.100.

With food, wine and hospitality taking over the city one last time, this final weekend is basically Adelaide at its absolute best.
