'Cowardly and callous' drug dealer jailed after police take down county lines

‘Our message to those involved is clear, we will keep coming’

A 34-year-old man has been sentenced to a decade in prison following a successful Merseyside Police operation targeting a county lines drug network, the ECHO reports.

Wayne Garnett, of Rosegarth Green in West Derby, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court last Thursday (April 23), where he received his sentence for his involvement in the illicit trade.

The legal proceedings concluded after the force executed a raid on an address last September, which resulted in the discovery and seizure of various illegal substances, cash, and drug paraphernalia.

Following the subsequent investigation, Garnett was found guilty of being concerned in the supply of several Class A and Class B drugs, specifically cocaine, cannabis, ketamine, and ecstasy. Additionally, he was convicted for the possession of criminal property.

Detective Inspector Steve Croasdale of the Child Criminal and Sexual Exploitation Team (CCSET) condemned Garnett’s actions, labelling him a “cowardly and callous” offender.

DI Croasdale also emphasized the commitment of Merseyside Police towards protecting the community from such criminal activity.

“If you suspect that someone you know may be susceptible to criminal or sexual exploitation, please come forward to police immediately,” he said. “We will deal swiftly alongside partners to safeguard victims and target and bring to justice those who seek to control and manipulate vulnerable members of our community.

“By working closely with local policing teams, we are able to combine specialist County Lines expertise with vital local intelligence to take decisive action against offenders, disrupt drug supply and safeguard vulnerable people.”

DI Croasdale added: “This activity is ongoing, and our message to those involved is clear – we will keep coming.”
