The Michelin Guide Hong Kong & Macau 2026 is here, and the culinary world is buzzing. Every year, the Guide does more than hand out stars. It tells the story of a region where food is serious business and endlessly creative. From sizzling street stalls to ultra-refined fine dining, Hong Kong and Macau prove, once again, why they are two of the most exciting culinary hubs in the world.

This year, no new restaurants were awarded three Michelin stars. However, the two-star category saw notable additions, with Cristal Room by Anne-Sophie Pic earning two Michelin stars, alongside L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, which also joined the two-star selection.

The one-star category welcomed exciting new entries as well, including Sushi Takeshi and China Tang, both strengthening the city’s already dynamic and competitive fine dining landscape.

In terms of the city’s culinary identity, Hong Kong remains a powerhouse where heritage meets innovation. Cantonese classics like dim sum, roast meats, and fresh seafood still dominate, but at the same time, the city’s chefs are pushing boundaries. As a result, diners can enjoy precise French tasting menus, sushi-level Japanese omakase, and daring modern fusion dishes. Therefore, there is always something new to try, whether you are hopping between a casual noodle shop and a swanky harbour-view restaurant.

Macau brings its own distinct flavour to the mix, shaped by its Portuguese-Chinese heritage. Its dining scene blends history with luxury, while a strong line-up of destination restaurants turns dining into an experience rather than just a meal.

This year’s guide also reflects a clear shift in the industry, with greater emphasis on sustainability, ingredient sourcing, and thoughtful innovation. As a result, restaurants are increasingly focused not only on what they serve, but also on the story, provenance, and craft behind every dish.
