New Frozen Short Film Gets Release Date Ahead of 3 & 4

Disney executive Paul Gitter has announced the release date window for its newest Frozen short film. This comes ahead of the highly anticipated theatrical release of Frozen 3 on November 24, 2027.

When is the release date for the new Frozen short film?

During a recent interview with License Global, while opening up about Disney’s exciting plans for the Frozen franchise, Gitter confirmed that they will officially be releasing a brand-new Frozen short film later this year in October. It will be a part of the company’s annual Frozen Fan Fest, where fans of the blockbuster animated franchise are treated to new product launches and digital content.

“Frozen has proven to be a powerhouse brand for Disney Consumer Products and is expected to be one of our largest efforts ever, with strong execution planned across the entire Disney ecosystem– from new in-park experiences like Disneyland Paris’ World of Frozen to new film and streaming content,” Gitter shared. “Our strategy continues to serve core fans with new show-to-shelf products tied to short-form content, as well as expand to new demographics and categories.”

He continued, “Frozen Fan Fest in October has become a strong annual event for our fans to celebrate their love for the story and characters, with new product launches and digital content. We’re excited to kick off the countdown to Frozen 3 with a new short this October, ahead of our biggest-ever cross-company movie marketing campaign in 2027.”

Frozen 3 and Frozen 4 will once again be directed by Jennifer Lee, who previously stepped down as Walt Disney Animation Studios’ chief creative officer to shift her focus back to filmmaking. Lee previously co-directed the first two installments. The main voice cast will also be returning, including Kristen Bell (The Good Place) as Anna, Idina Menzel (Wicked) as Elsa, Jonathan Groff (Hamilton) as Kristoff, and Josh Gad (Murder on the Orient Express) as Olaf the Snowman. Last January, Gad seemingly confirmed that the cast had already started the voice recordings for the upcoming sequel.
