Racist Trump post demands accountability

Feb. 10, 2026, 8:00 p.m. ET

President Donald Trump says he knows nothing of the racist post that went out on his social media account. We’re skeptical, considering the president’s juvenile impulses and predilection for crudity. A meme depicting former President Barack and Michelle Obama as apes is not outside his range.

If he’s telling the truth, and a staffer is responsible, who was it? And has that person been disconnected from management of Trump’s social media and removed from the White House?

Allowing a racist to handle social media postings for a United States president sends a horrible message to the American people, and suggests a recklessly managed White House. So does allowing posts to go out from the most powerful office in the world without being fully vetted. If his account was abused in such a despicable way, Trump is the one who should be most outraged. Instead, he’s trying to shrug it off as an oversight.

President Donald Trump says he knows nothing of the racist post that went out on his social media account. We're skeptical,

That’s not good enough. Someone must be held to account.

Several social media sites suspended Trump’s accounts after the Jan. 6 Capitol riots. They’d do Trump a favor to block them again. He’ lacks the maturity, judgement and decency to be trusted with screens.
