“Dangerously cold” weather is expected throughout Central and Western Massachusetts Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service.
A cold weather advisory is set to be in effect from 7 p.m. Sunday to 10 a.m. Monday for all of Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire and Worcester counties and the northwest tip of Middlesex County. During this time, wind chill values as low as -15 degrees are possible throughout these regions, and wind chill values as low as -20 degrees are possible at the highest elevations, according to the weather service.
Single-digit lows are predicted for much of Eastern and Central Massachusetts Sunday night, while below-zero temperatures are expected in Western Massachusetts, the weather service said. In the Berkshires, temperatures could get as low as -7 degrees.
On Monday, sunny skies and highs in the mid 20s are predicted for most of Massachusetts, according to the weather service. Overnight lows in the teens are expected in much of Eastern Massachusetts, while single-digit temperatures are predicted for most of Central and Western Massachusetts.
Highs in the low 30s are expected across most of the state on Tuesday, and mostly sunny skies are predicted before light snow begins to fall in the afternoon, according to the weather service. Snowfall is expected to begin in the Berkshires around 1 p.m., reach Central Massachusetts by 2 p.m. and spread across the majority of the state by 3 p.m.
The snow is predicted to stop in Central and Western Massachusetts in the early morning on Wednesday, but continue through much of the day in Eastern Massachusetts, according to the weather service. Total accumulations are expected to be between 1 and 3 inches.
Overnight lows in the high teens and lower 20s are predicted across the state Tuesday night, according to the weather service. High temperatures in the mid 30s are expected in most of Massachusetts on Wednesday.
