After nearly two years of waiting, Bridgerton Season 4 Part 1 finally hit Netflix, which will focus on Benedict Bridgerton’s story. Now, fans are curious to learn what is happening between its leading characters, Benedict and Sophie Baek.
The show draws major inspiration from the classic folktale, Cinderella, but without any magic. Much like the tale, Sophie’s stepmother, Lady Araminta, confides her to maid duties. But one night, when Sophie expresses her desire to attend the royal masquerade party, the other maids help her with it.
From the moment Benedict lays his eyes on Sophie, he is enamoured by her. But when the bell rings at midnight, she flees, leaving behind a glove. Benedict then becomes obsessed with finding her and begins his search.
When Amarita realizes that Sophie is the girl Benedict is searching for, she kicks her out of the house. Benedict, who saw it happen, vows to help her find work. After an unfortunate accident that leaves him wounded, Sophie stays by him and treats him, which deepens their bond. They eventually kiss, but soon pull away, acknowledging the difference in their status. He later helps her secure a job as lady’s maid.
Meanwhile, Benedict continues to search for the mysterious girl from the party. Sophie grows jealous and takes out her anger on him. Benedict purses her, and once again, they end up kissing. In a surprising twist, instead of a romantic gesture, he asks her to be his mistress. Sophie walks away.
