Erin Elizabeth Sutton was boozed up, claim cops, when she went skinny-dipping in a neighbor’s pond — insisting she was a mermaid — and then fought with deputies like a wildcat after she was pulled out.
The fishy tale began when neighbors reported the 41-year-old Marion, La., gal was in their driveway screaming and refusing to leave.
When a sheriff’s deputy arrived, Sutton was discovered naked and swimming in a pond on the property in the cold November temperatures.
“[She] refused to exit the pond and speak to the deputy, stating she was ‘trying to be a mermaid,’” says the Union Parish Sheriff’s Department.

She was given a blanket and escorted inside a residence to warm up, but “suddenly charged toward the deputy,” claims the report.
“After several commands, Sutton refused to comply, and the deputy deployed a taser, which had no effect.”
“Sutton was taken to the ground, where she continued to resist detention and began kicking and punching the deputy.”
She was finally restrained, but while being taken to a local hospital for treatment, she threatened to kill deputies and paramedics, says the report.

Since she needed treatment, Sutton wasn’t arrested then, but later surrendered to Union Parish law enforcement officials.
She was slammed with numerous violations including three counts of resisting an officer with force or violence, two counts of public intimidation, two counts of battery of a police officer, disturbing the peace/drunkenness and criminal trespassing, per New York Post.
Sutton’s bond was set at $62,000, according to authorities.
