Families in Lafayette can learn how to prepare healthy, budget-friendly meals through a free cooking class series.
The “Cooking Matters” classes are scheduled for 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every other Wednesday in February and March at the Food Finders Food Bank Inc. Katy Bunder Food Resource & Education Center, 1204 Greenbush St., according to a community announcement.

The first class is planned for Feb. 4, followed by sessions on Feb. 18, March 4 and March 18.
Hands-on cooking and nutrition tips
Participants will prepare and taste a new recipe using healthy ingredients during each session. The classes will cover topics such as grocery shopping on a budget, cooking techniques, time-saving tips, nutrition information and options for selective eaters, according to the announcement.
Families with children ages 7 and older are encouraged to attend together.
