Iconic video game character Lara Croft will return to the live-action world once again with Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming Tomb Raider adaptation, co-created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. This will be another addition to Prime Video’s recent string of successful video game adaptations.
Here are all the details about the upcoming Tomb Raider adaptation, including release date, cast, and plot details.
When is the live-action Tomb Raider series release date for Prime Video?
There is no official release date for the Tomb Raider series yet. This is because filming has not yet commenced. Reports, however, state that the series will go on floors on January 19, 2026. This means that there is a chance that the series will release sometime in late 2026. But more realistically, it should arrive in the first half of 2027.
Who has joined Tom Raider’s cast?
Reports stated that Sophie Turner was going to take on Lara Croft’s leading role in the series a long time back. It was confirmed months later that the British actress is going to lead the series. She follows the likes of Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander, who have played the role in previous live-action adaptations.
Apart from Turner, other confirmed cast members include Martin Bobb-Semple as Zip, Jason Isaacs as Atlas DeMornay, Bill Paterson as Winston, Jack Bannon as Gerry, John Heffernan as David, Celia Imrie as Francine, Paterson Joseph as Thomas Warner, Sasha Luss as Sasha, Juliette Motamed as Georgia, Sigourney Weaver as Evelyn Wallis, and August Wittgenstein as Lukas.
What is Prime Video’s Tomb Raider reboot about?
It is too soon to get any tangible plot details, but it is believed that Prime Video will establish a Marvel-like universe with Tomb Raider, perhaps diving into interconnected storylines in the future.
As the shooting commences, there will be set photographs and reveals that could hint at some possible plot points. As of now, there are no such details.
