This year’s New Year Countdown takes place at the Chater Road Pedestrian Precinct in Central on Wednesday, December 31,  2025. The show starts at 11:30 pm. The party lasts into the first moments of 2026, blending music, lights, and celebration as the city ushers in a fresh year together.

Performances, music, and festive vibes

This year, expect an electric mix of performances from both local and international talent:

  • Air Supply — the internationally renowned group will perform some of their timeless hits.
  • Jay Fung and Cloud Wan — two of Hong Kong’s favourite local artists will light up the stage.
  • A children’s choir and the Hong Kong Police Band are also part of the lineup, setting the stage for a warm, joyful countdown moment.

This year, the city isn’t just counting down. Eight iconic buildings in Central will participate in an Immersive Light Show featuring giant countdown projections and seasonal patterns. Then, once midnight arrives, a three-minute themed light performance called “New Hope, New Beginnings” will send blessings to both viewers on site and global audiences watching via livestream.

Watch from wherever you are

Can’t make it to Central? No problem. The countdown celebration will be broadcast live online and on TV across multiple platforms. This includes HKTB’s Facebook and YouTube channels, ViuTV and RTHK online platforms. Additionally, you can watch on ViuTV Channel 99, TVB Channel 81, HOY TV Channel 77 and RTHK TV Channel 32.

Beyond Central, you’ll find the countdown energy all around town:

  • Large screens livestreaming the countdown at Chater Garden and Edinburgh Place
  • Outdoor light projections at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui — perfect for gathering with friends and soaking up the holiday buzz.

So, whether you’re in the middle of the crowd, watching from a harbourfront spot, or tuning in from home, one thing’s certain: this is how Hong Kong welcomes a new year.
