Bayern’s Alphonso Davies to return from ACL injury to play in Champions League on Tuesday

Phonzie is back! Maybe?

It’s been a wild week for Canadian fans. From the highs of seeing Canada drawn in a World Cup group, to be played at home, with Switzerland, Qatar and potentially Italy, to the Vancouver Whitecaps falling in the MLS Cup final to Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami. Now, captain Canada is back in action.

Alphonso Davies told Super Bowl champion and former NFL tight end Luke Willson on TSN’s Film Never Lies podcast that he would dress on Tuesday night as Bayern Munich host Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League.

The full interview is supposed to be released Tuesday on TSN’s YouTube channel.

Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany said on Friday that Bayern had pencilled in Sunday, Dec. 14 against Mainz as the earliest realistic target for Davies to return from the ACL injury that has kept him on the shelf since Canada’s CONCACAF Nations League third place win over the United States.
