Devlin “Duck” Hodges is Lainey Wilson’s fiancé and her biggest fan. And that role doesn’t stop when his superstar love steps off stage. After the CMA Awards, the former NFL player took the opportunity to shut down a creator who was roasting red carpet fashion on Tik Tok.

HauteLeMode, aka Luke Meagher, offers fashion news, reviews, and criticism, according to his account’s bio, and no one is safe, from runway shows to awards red carpets. Luke didn’t find much that he liked on the CMA Awards red carpet.

In the video, he gives his thoughts on more than two dozen stars, from Gretchen Wilson to Kelsea Ballerini, and declares, “We’re going to need holy water, stat. I feel like there’s so much happening, and none of it is good.” At one point, he says, “Fringe is so unnecessary” (gasp!). We’ll spare you the details, but the highest praise he gives is “this is fine, it’s not hurting my eyes.”

Duck took the opportunity to ask a polite but pointed question in the comments: “And what would you like to see these people wear??”

Other fans jumped in with comments like, “Lainey will always be the best dressed,” “first of all Kelsea slayed,” “Ms Gretchen Wilson ate,” and “Cody Johnson slander will not be tolerated.”

On the Instagram post of the video, singer Lauren Daigle chimed in with, “AHHHH SO HONORED TO BE MENTIONED 🤣😘” and Caylee Hammack added, “The way I HELD my breath while watching this, waiting for my pic to come up & you read me hahaha IM SAFE FOR ONE MORE YEAR.”

We get it—country music fashion isn’t for everyone! But we always look forward to the looks in the CMA Awards red carpet. Who gets your vote for best dressed? We’ve included our favorites in this article.
