Ayrshire family firm SimpsInns wins more UK awards

SimpsInns, one of the county’s top family-owned companies, picked up the accolades in London and Glasgow respectively.

The awards add to an impressive haul for the firm in 2025, which also includes ‘Scotland’s Best Spa & Golf Hotel’ at the Scotland Prestige Awards and ‘Best Wedding Venue (West)’ at the Confetti Wedding Awards.

Irvine-based SimpsInns is owned and operated by the Simpson family.

The firm supports roughly 280 hospitality jobs across its hotels, restaurants, bars, spa, and leisure activities along the Ayrshire coast.

The SimpsInns collection, established in 1996, comprises The Gailes Hotel & Spa in Irvine, The Waterside Hotel in West Kilbride, and The Loans Inn in Troon.

For the second year running, The Gailes was named ‘Boutique Spa Hotel of the Year’ at the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology and Confederation of International Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology Annual Awards.

SimpsInns also scooped the ‘Family Business of the Year’ title from Scottish Licensed Trade News in the same week.

Last month, they were crowned ‘Hospitality and Tourism Business of the Year’ at the Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.

Lee Simpson from SimpsInns said: “2025 has been an exceptional year for the whole team as we continue to build on our industry award success.

“We’re extremely proud to represent the best of Scottish hospitality across the UK as an independent, family-run business.

“Our latest UK industry accolade for The Gailes Hotel & Spa really helps to reinforce our reputation as Ayrshire’s leading luxury spa and wellness destination.

“We’re committed to exceeding our guests’ expectations.

“Continued investment has been a key strategy for the growth of Simpsinns over the last few years, with over £4 million invested across the group.”

The company has big plans for 2026, including the launch of their second ‘Si!’, which is a sea view spa at The Waterside Hotel in West Kilbride.

This £3 million investment includes a newly opened 17-bedroom ‘Super Sea View’ extension, with a restaurant refurbishment also planned.

Other recent developments include a new wedding bandstand, a refreshed Kyle Suite, and the addition of 40 guest bedrooms, making The Waterside an attractive coastal wedding venue.

The new ‘Si! Spa’ at The Waterside is in its final stages of development, and will feature an indoor lounge, a sea-view sauna, steam room, spa restaurant, and an outdoor spa terrace with experience showers, a fire pit, and a large hydro pool overlooking the beach with views towards the Isle of Arran.
