On October 11th, 2025, Candyce Scott hosted her Gorgy By Candy Fashion Show event at 114 West Main St in the New Britain office building. Candyce Scott, a fashion designer, author, therapist, and Democratic Party candidate, brought together creativity and diversity to create a powerful democratic fashion show.
This event was the first-ever fashion show with L.E.A.D. (Latinos for Educational Advocacy and Diversity). The afternoon started with the L.E.A.D. The Vice President delivered opening remarks, setting off the tone for an evening centered on unity. This show featured around 23 models, each representing different backgrounds.

The models began by highlighting pieces from Gorgy By Candy in red, black, and green, symbolizing the Pan-African Flag. Their second appearance featured other designs in red, white, and green, followed by remarks from Alderman Santiago.

The third segment honored Candyce’s Mattaponi Tribe heritage with a collection of native-inspired clothes. Following this, John McNamara spoke at the event, representing Ward 4 City Council.
The fourth runway presentation featured purple and pink clothes to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. During this section, What It’s Like by Everlast played because Candyce stated that the lyrics resonated with the themes of domestic violence and resilience. The following segment showcased clothing inspired by Islamic women’s everyday wear.
One of the models, Ana, who represents the Polish community in New Britain, shared a bit of her story as a mental health advocate and a psychology student at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) in New Britain. Also, throughout the event, 12-year-old Olivia sang 2 songs, Bubbly by Colbie Caillat and Brighter Days by Blessing Offor, for entertainment.

The finale brought all of the models out to showcase blue clothing, and they all held signs that symbolize the Democratic Party. Bobby Sanchez, running for Mayor, was the last person to speak at the event. At the end of the night, every seat was taken, and audience members remarked about the event and its creativity. The Gorgy by Candy fashion Show wasn’t just an event; it was a celebration for diversity, community, and democracy.
