Unpopular opinion: I love winter, especially winter fashion. As someone who’s lived perpetually on the East Coast, frequenting New York City during the holiday season, there is truly nothing else like it. The chic city-goers were my real-life moodboard for inspiration on what to wear seasonally, and even 31 years later, that sentiment still rings true. 

Now that I’m a grown-up with ‘adult money’ and expenses, the clothing and accessories I buy have to be budget-friendly and good quality, which is why I rely on Target. I just finished up my annual winter fashion haul and ended up going home with some of the best pieces I’ve found yet.

I love a good layering piece in the fall and winter, and a sweater vest is a reliable choice. I snagged this cable-knit style in a larger size to wear it as a dress over a long-sleeve turtleneck and over-the-knee boots. This is easily my favorite vest I’ve owned; its fabric is so soft, it’s hard for me to believe it’s only $30.  

A New Day Gwen Rhinestone Bow Heels

Several years ago, I came across a pair of the most perfect designer holiday heels, but the price was (and still is) nowhere near my budget. When I stumbled across this kitten heel lookalike at Target, I couldn’t believe my eyes. As a self-proclaimed heel hater—because I find them so incredibly uncomfortable—these look good and feel amazing on my sensitive feet.   

A New Day Tigris Low-Shaft Heel Boots

It’s hard for me to pass up anything embellished, and these low-shaft heel boots were an easy purchase for me. I’ve worn them practically daily since I got them; the squared-toe, chunky, low heel, and color make them look so luxe, and they’re super comfortable, even for miles of walking on the streets of NYC. I love them so much that I also bought the plain black pair. 

Wild Fable Button-Down Collar Henley Sweater

I’m picky with sweaters. I typically steer clear of wool or cashmere, both for the price and the itchy texture. This button-down Henley sweater features an oversized collar that adds a cool-girl touch, differentiating it from the other knits in my closet. I prefer my sweaters oversized, so I snagged it in an XL. 

A New Day Faux Suede Trench

Winter jackets are arguably one of the most expensive seasonal fashion pieces; however, they’re a must-have to face frigid temperatures. Instead of spending over three figures on a jacket, I found this faux suede option at Target that looks and feels like a designer piece. I swear it feels like it should be four times the price. 

A New Day Oversized Clutch

Handbags are my favorite accessories, and I have quite a large collection to mix and match with my outfits. One style I was missing was a clutch that actually offers ample storage space, and this oversized one from Target is perfect—and earns me countless compliments. It also comes with a crossbody chain to wear it on the shoulder. 

Wild Fable Puff Short-Sleeve V-Neck Cardigan

I own plenty of long-sleeve cardigans, but short-sleeve styles have been having a moment this year, and I’m all aboard the trend. This one comes in four different colors, but I loved the wintry white and, of course, the chic puff sleeves that give it extra flair. 

Universal Thread Long-Sleeve Mini A-Line Dress

With holiday gatherings on the horizon, I need some easy looks I can pop on and head out the door at a moment’s notice. This mini A-line ribbed dress is flattering, comfortable, and looks great under any coat with heeled boots. I own the white, and it isn’t the least bit see-through and is easy to layer over my undergarments.
