Met Office London weather forecast in Storm Benjamin

The storm hit the UK in the early hours of this morning (October 23) bringing heavy rainfall and wind to large parts of the south of England.

The Met Office has issued weather warnings for both rain and wind covering large parts of England, including London, until 6pm today, bringing travel disruption and risks of potential flooding.

Today heavy outbreaks of rain up to 30mm are expected to affect the south of England, along with gusts of up to 50-60 miles per hour widespread, with some areas likely to see gusts of up to 70 miles per hour.

Today people are being warned to check before travelling when using public transport and drivers are being warned to allow additional time when driving, with today’s rain and wind likely to affect driving conditions.

Rainfall has been forecast in London for large parts of the day during the late morning and mid afternoon, with conditions expected to be windy throughout the day.

However, the weather is expected to settle, becoming gradually drier by the late afternoon as the storm makes its way in a south easterly direction.
