Controversial Email
Andrew has dismissed all the allegations against him, and in November 2019, in his BBC Newsnight interview, he stated that he stopped his friendship with Epstein in December 2010.But, reports of an email resurfaced over the weekend, reportedly portraying that the Duke saying to the disgraced financier that “we are in this together,” three months following the claim he made in regard to have stopped contact with Epstein. The email was also sent just one day after the infamous image of Andrew and Virginia Giuffre was released.
Palace Reaction
The recent update has reportedly left Palace personnel”exasperated and frustrated,” with the Duke currently experiencing calls to “go away.” Matt Wilkinson, The Sun’s Royal Editor mentioned: “Andrew once claimed visiting Epstein in New York was the ‘honourable and right thing to do’. If he has an honorable bone in his own body, he should leave the country.” He mentioned that the notion that the Duke is using his best judgment for the wider advantage of himself and his family is “naive and laughable.”
Details of the 2011 Email
The recent email, seen by The Sun on Sunday and Mail on Sunday, was reportedly sent on February 28, 2011. As per the papers, Andrew mentioned in the text: “I’m just as concerned for you! Don’t worry about me! It would seem we are in this together and will have to rise above it. Otherwise, keep in close touch and we’ll play some more soon!!!!” He is said to have signed off with “A, HRH The Duke of York, KG.”
Civil Settlement

He then paid an undisclosed amount to resolve a civil sexual assault case with Ms Giuffre out of court, who was trafficked by Epstein as a teenager and who Andrew stated that he never met. The amount paid did not constitute admission of guilt. The Duke has always dismissed any misconduct and the claims made against him.
