The Conjuring: Last Rites
The fourth and supposedly final instalment of The Conjuring franchise was released back at the start of September, but its strong box office performance has seen it stick around for October.

Based on the cases of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga), you can expect a whole lot of hauntings and demon vanquishing for the pair to deal with once again.
Him
Released at a similar time to The Conjuring: Last Rites, Him might not be sticking around cinemas in October for much longer, but it could still be worth a shot.
It follows a young up-and-coming football player, Cameron Cade (played by Tyriq Withers), who goes to train at the isolated compound of a nearly retired quarterback (Marlon Wayans).

The film follows a college quarterback who is taken into a sinister world by his idol to see what he’s willing to sacrifice for fame.

From here, the narrative delves into psychological horror, with Cameron soon questioning what’s real and what’s not as strange occurrences begin to affect him.
The Strangers: Chapter 2
Following directly on from The Strangers: Chapter 1, released in 2024, survivor Maya (played by Madelaine Petsch) is recovering in hospital after a siege was laid on her holiday home.
The three masked assailants—Scarecrow, Dollface, and Pin-Up Girl – are soon back though, to finish the job off.
Black Phone 2
Releasing on Friday, October 17, Black Phone 2 is the sequel to the 2022 film, which was adapted from the short story by Joe Hill.

After managing to escape from the clutches of the serial killer known as ‘The Grabber’ (played by Ethan Hawke) and kill him, Finney (Mason Thames) has been living a normal life.
However, when his sister Gwen (Madeleine McGraw) receives calls from the black phone and starts seeing disturbing visions of three boys being stalked at a winter camp, they go out to investigate.
Here, they discover ‘The Grabber’ has returned and is even more powerful in death.
Good Boy
Dogs have often been used in films to react to the presence of a spirit or demon that the human characters cannot see, and Good Boy asks what if that concept were used for an entire story.

The film takes place from the perspective of a dog called Indy, who is the real-life dog of director Ben Leonberg.
It follows Indy reacting to a haunting happening in his owners’ house to see if he can protect them.
