Hahn hails red-hot opponents after lightning fast T38 200m final

Hahn makes medal admission after booking place in world final

The Nottingham sprint star, 28, crossed the line last in the race as Colombian Karen Palomeque grabbed gold in world record time.

Double Paris Paralympic champion Palomeque, 31, stopped the clock in 24.98s ahead of compatriot Angie Nicoll Mejia Morales, 16, as Hungarian Luca Ekler banked bronze.

Hahn, a double Paralympic champion herself back in Rio and Tokyo, has endured a tough time since Paris and had said reaching two finals here in the Indian capital was her ambition.

She fulfilled that in both the 100m and 200m and saluted her peers at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, with six of the eight athletes in her race all running personal bests after a technical fault had delayed the start.

“I was all ready to go and pumped up, but then there was a delay,” said Hahn, who crossed the line in 27.11s.

“But everyone is in the same boat – that was a quick race, a very, very fast race.

“It was 100% faster than I thought it would be

“I’m disappointed with myself, but it’s been a long season.

“To make two finals, I couldn’t be happier with that.”

Hahn is one of over 30 British athletes here in India, with the team now sponsored by official finance partner Novuna.

The East Midlands ace finished fifth in her 100m final earlier this week but was unable to improve on that over the longer distance.

She will now turn her attention to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next summer, working with new coach with Joe McDonnell who she reunited with after ditching Leon Baptiste earlier in the season.

Hahn, a seven-time world champion, added: “A medal is always nice – but I’ll move on and come back for the Commonwealth Games next year.

“It’s all about enjoyment – I feel like I’ve won everything there is to win and if I can keep medalling, that’s great, but it’s all about enjoying the sport.”
