A native of Northern Ireland, Anderson is one of the most celebrated contemporary designers right now. The creative director, who recently left Loewe to take over at Dior (and has his own namesake label, JW Anderson), has been in the fashion world for almost two decades. In the time since he founded his eponymous brand in 2008 and took over at Loewe in 2013, he has built up reverence for both and essentially revived the then-dormant Spanish house. As our own Cathy Horyn says, Anderson’s work often comes across as “casually nonbinary.” Think flowy tunics, ruffled shorts, and billowy slacks sent down the runway on men and women alike. After rumors swirled for months, Anderson was officially announced as the creative director of Dior men’s and womenswear earlier this year. His namesake brand has pivoted to working with artisans on things like chic blankets, ceramics, even honey.
