resident Donald Trump appeared to call on Attorney General Pam Bondi to do more to prosecute his political opponents in a post on Truth Social Saturday.
In the post, he referenced the recent departure of a top prosecutor in Virginia. Former U.S. Attorney Erik Siebert announced his resignation Friday from the Eastern District of Virginia. But Saturday night, Trump said Seibert was fired and he accused Seibert of being a “woke RINO” — or Republican in name only.
Before leaving his job, Siebert declined to charge New York Attorney General Letitia James with mortgage fraud. James has been a target of the president’s since she filed a lawsuit against his company.
In a statement Saturday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “President Trump appreciates all Attorney General Bondi is doing to Make America Safe Again. The President wants justice and accountability for the many corrupt criminals and politicians who weaponized our justice system against him and his millions of patriotic supporters.”
