ICE Reportedly Detains 4 People in Santa Barbara County | Local News

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement reportedly detained four people in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria and Oxnard on Wednesday morning, according to an 805 Immigrant Coalition social media post.

Primitiva Hernandez, executive director of the nonprofit 805UndocuFund, took to Instagram to share some details about the detainments.

According to Hernandez, ICE detained a person in Santa Maria around 5:20 a.m. at the corner of Fesler and Western streets.

In Santa Barbara, two people were detained around 8 a.m., leaving only their bicycles at the corner of Modoc and Veronica Springs roads.

The fourth detainee was allegedly brutalized and detained in Oxnard around 7:40 a.m. at the corner of Guava and South East streets.

“A devastating day in our region,” Hernandez said in the post.

She did not immediately respond to a request for more details. The identities of the individuals and reasons for their detainments were unknown.

Another 805 Immigrant Coalition Instagram post stated that the two Santa Barbara detainees were taken in a gray Durango. Its Rapid Response Team saw the car arriving at the Camarillo ICE office almost an hour after the arrest.

“We encourage the community to connect with the 805 Immigrant Rapid Response Network if you know of the impacted families so we can connect them with legal representation and financial assistance,” Hernandez said.

The organization also reported seeing two black Ford Expeditions outside the Santa Maria Jail around 3 p.m., which it said were ICE vehicles.
